Where are you Larry Buchanan?

I tuned into one of those new (free) digital oldies channels last night called Comet TV, and was surprised by a double feature of Larry Buchanan's AIP TV productions. CREATURE OF DESTRUCTION and CURSE...

Re: Where are you Larry Buchanan?

I wish MGM owned Buchanan's light sex/fantasy drama STRAWBERRIES NEED RAIN. There's quite a few Buchanan films that appear to be orphans at this time.

Re: Where are you Larry Buchanan?

I find the Sci-fi titles very bizarre, not only because of how cut-rate they are, but in that they're almost blow-blow remakes of better films B films. I remember fist being exposed to them as a kid,...

SWAMP CREATURE is wonderfully bizarre and highly watchable in a train-wreck rubbernecking sort of way. Other than that, I can't fathom wanting to own anything created by Buchanan other than the...

Re: Where are you Larry Buchanan?

IT'S ALIVE is probably my least favorite. It was very hard to stay alert. I think of Buchanan as sorta made-for-TV H.G. Lewis.

Re: Where are you Larry Buchanan?

I have a copy of IT'S ALIVE from MGM HD, it makes me happy. Was not a big fan when I was a kid in the late 60's & early 70's, stayed as far away as possible through out the 80's & 90's, but...

Re: Where are you Larry Buchanan?

The thespians toughing it out in these films is absolutely part of their appeal for me. How badly did they need paycheck? Add in Al Adamson's flicks to this love 'em / hate 'em genre

Re: Where are you Larry Buchanan?

In Buchanan films they also worked pretty hard for that paycheck. Talk is cheap, so there was a lot of talking to do. Few got off with a mere cameo.
